In the construction of underground diaphragm wall in mudstone layer or composite layer (both hard rock layer and soil layer), when trench cutter(also called Hydromill, Hydrofraise, Wall Cutter)or CSM(Cutter Soil Mixing) cutting mudstone or sandstone, slipping often occurs. In this situation, it's impossible to cut or difficult to cut, and the verticality cannot be effectively controlled, thus affecting the construction progress and production efficiency.

Especially in the soil and composite stratum/strata with strong rock strength, the CSM with standard wheels becomes very difficult to cu. While the CSM with round shank chisel wheel or trench cutter is used for construct the diaphragm wall, the cutter wheel is easily covered or wrapped by clay, resulting in failure of cutting or socketing into it.

Mudstone is a kind of sedimentary rock formed by solidification of mud and clay. Its composition is similar to structure and shale but it is less fragile. Most mudstones have unobvious bedding or shale joints and are a kind of clay rock with water-absorbing and cohesive properties.

In cutter soil mixing method, we will meet hard soil frequently but stand CSM cutter wheel can not socket into strata easily.In order to solve this headache issue, we develop this hybrid cutter wheel for CSM.The hybrid cutter wheel is equipped with a combination of round shank chisels and flat teeth in a regular pattern. Its main use is cutting through non-cohesive or cohesive overburden soil followed by socketing into hard soil or rock.
